Pavé (pronounced pah-ve), derived from the French phrase “pave”, is a type of setting in which many smaller diamonds or color stones support to dazzle the center stone, and it’s created a beautiful pattern of sparkle. In this, the diamonds are so carefully set that they do not stand out from the metal beneath them; To make it look more beautiful, many customers choose white gold for their designs so that the prongs or metal that hold it together with the diamond also look like a diamond. Pave setting is also known as “bead” setting, and when small size diamonds are used, (less than about .01 carat/1.30 mm) it is also called micro-pave setting.
Because of the pattern of the sparkle, the center diamond appears larger than it is, so you can save money by choosing a smaller center diamond when your budget is tight. In this setting, due to the presence of so many diamonds and filled with unique patterns, even a small and simple design looks premium and expensive.
